Some points about which IP Phones are best.  Not all IP Phones are created equal, nor should they be.  Three major manufacturers of IP phones are Polycom, Aastra and Grandstream.  Each one of these manufacturers have created a niche well worth discussing.

Polycom has been a mainstay in the IP phone market for many years and build durable phones with some of the best sound quality.  They are one of the primary choices of hosted VoIP providers and if you are shopping for a hosted VoIP phone, Polycom may be the one suggested by your provider.  The main draw back of Polycom seems to be in the complexity of making scripts work.  Programming these phones are challanging, but if you're getting a phone for hosted VoIP product, then this is not something you have to concern yourself with.

Aastra phones have been making a name for themselves and seem to be a first choice with many Asterisk installations.  They lend themselves well to having scripts programmed and are backed by a company whose engineers are interested in having their phones a first choice among the open source community.

Grandsrteam makes a phone the 2010 that is both cost effective and a phone that emulates the key system feel.  Both the 2020 and the 2010 should be a consideration for anyone looking at IP phones.

Although there is no clear best phone, all three of these manufacturers of IP phones deliver quality and value.  Polycom may have the best sound, especially with their HD versions, Aastra may offer the best choice for the developer who wants a strong feature set programmed in the way the phone behaves,  Grandstream is a great choice for a business coming from a key phone system.  All in all, they each have a niche.
